The winners of the UKPA U21 Horsemanship Prize, sponsored by Australian Horse Training, worked alongside Jason Webb for a week. Will Halcrow (Kent Target Polocrosse Club) and Alex Richardson (Highlanders Club) came down in their half term week and left very weary with aching legs from riding eight horses a day each! Jason was full of praise "both Alex and Will coped really well with riding recently broken horses and they learnt to sit to a few bucks! They were a credit to the UKPA and I'm looking forward to watching them develop as players and riders." |
| Risebridge Diesel goes hunting with the Ashford Valley.

|
I've been taking Diesel out hunting with the Ashford Valley a couple of times over the winter. He gets a bit overexcited by the hounds, but he finishes the day as fresh as he starts and jumps everything in sight. hopefully he'll settle down a bit more after a few more outings. And no, I still didn't get in a pair of jodhpurs!

Horsemart Open Day
Demonstration -
15th March 2009 |
Horsemart ( www.horsemart.co.uk ) recently ran a feature on what we do here and I have been invited to do a demonstration at their Open Day on 15 th March at Plumpton College . I will probably work with one or two young horses and take Diesel along to show off (hopefully!) on. it would be great to see you there! I am also one of the 'Ask the Experts' on the horsemart website, so no tricky questions please! |
| Jason selected to play for the UK! |
As a new British Citizen (!), Jason has been selected as part of a UK polocrosse team to play Australia, South Africa and New Zealand in a quadrangular competition to be held in Australia in April 2009. This follows a successful National Club Championships where Jason won Best Pony with Honey, his 7yo Australian Stock Horse mare. This was a fitting award as Jason and Penny had presented the Little Miss Muffett Memorial Trophy for Best Pony for the first time, following the loss of this wonderful mare earlier this year.
 |
Honey was also named Best Ladies Horse by the touring Australian team, when Jason lent her to UK Lady International, Sophie Lodder for July’s test series against Australia.

Open Afternoon Success!
Over 120 people enjoyed an afternoon of sunshine and demonstrations of horsemanship by Jason. Working with two recently started horses, Mint and Wizard, he demonstrated progression from groundwork through to ridden work. He finished by working his Australian Stock Horse stallion, Diesel, at liberty and under saddle. We are hoping to get video clips of the days on the website in the near future…
